Orionid Shooting Stars
The Orionids belong to the five most active meteor showers. In the night from 21 to 22 October, the shower of shooting stars reaches its peak: up to 25 shooting stars per hour will be seen. But also in the surrounding nights it is worthwhile to have a look into the night sky.
During this period in October, the Earth travels annually through the orbit of Halley's comet, whose fragments burn up in our atmosphere and therefore draw a shining tail. The radiant is located in the constellation of Orion, hence the name of the meteorshower. Since the constellation is well recognizable in both hemispheres, the Orionids can be seen from all over the world. However, keep in mind that the chances are increased if you are in a dark place outside the city. Also pay attention to the weather forecasts for your location, clouds unfortunately prevent the view of the shooting stars.
